課程概述

In this course, we will introduce basic concepts and principle of physics through a broad range of physics topics. Students will be required to work on the problems and derive solutions based on fundamental physics principles. 

課程目標
The goal of the course is to let the students have basic understanding of the physical concepts. The course will focus on how to derive solutions for each physics problems.
The topics are arranged to adapt the wish of Computing Science department.
The homework includes 6 Python programing assignment. The visualization helps improve the understanding of physics problem.


We will spend reduced time on Classical Mechanics and Thermodynamics and bringing in the Electrodynamics and Magnetism in the 2nd half of the semester.
The first semester will cover the topics

- before midterm
- motions in 1d, 2d, and 3d
- Conservation of Energy; Conservation of Linear Momentum
- Special Relativity
- Rotation, Conservation of angular Momentum
- Oscillation and Waves
- Thermodynamics


- after midterm
- Long range forces : Gravitational Force and Coulomb’s Force
- Gauss Law, Electric Field, Potential
- Capacitance, Electric Current and Resistance
- Electrice Circuits; Magnetic field
- Magnetic field due to current
- inductance and AC circuits
- Maxwell equations

The 2nd semester will focus on modern physics , semiconductor and basic of micro-electronics.
